My parents said they would insure me and put me on their policy if I pay for the extra cost
I'm turning 16 in a couple months
How much do you think my insurance will be??
It will depend on many factors such as:
location
your gender
what cars you will be driving
your grades
how much your parents currently pay
etc.
Take a look at these article for a better idea:
auto insurance for young drivers

There is no set rate for anyone, anywhere. You must ask an insurancecompany what the premium may be. If you have an insured car, it will becheapest to add her to your policy.

Have you discussed with your insurance company in this matter? This is certainly dependent on the company, location, your age etc. Have a word with them and if required then you can share your conversation with us over here.

The insurance premium for young drivers can be controlled by safe driving practices being adopted by the young drivers. The no claim bonus is applicable in these policies too. The young drivers can drive safely for certain stipulated period and hence raise no claim. This will entitle them to the no claim bonus in the form of the discount in premium. The safety accessories fitted to the car will also fetch you some discount on the premium. The car model also makes difference in the premium. The sports car will take more speed and hence there would be more chances of damage. Therefore, it is recommended that if you are looking for an affordable premium for your teen ager’s car then always buy him the basic car.

If you have good grades this will impact on the insurance you pay. The assumption is that a person with high grades is likely to be more responsible. Think about it. If you set aside time to study and do well with your grades you are more likely to be 'stable' and trustworthy. Insurance companies will take this into account.

Usually, occasional drivers pay substantially lower premiums. You will pay around 40% the normal rate on liability coverage and 60% on the collision coverage.
Unfortunately, since you will be added to your parent coverage, I guess you won’t be able to shop for other insurance companies. The prices could be very different from an insurer to another.
Even if you find the price is high, I would get the insurance. If you drive safely and you don’t fill any claims, your premiums will decrease considerably every year. You will build a good driving record and you will get credibility. Also, the price will drop every year considering you are older and you have been driving a longer time.
