QuoteWizard has been around for a while and is one of the leading companies in quote comparison. Millions of people use QuoteWizard to compare prices and find the best deal, but before you join them, it’s important to first read QuoteWizard auto insurance reviews.

Not all quote comparison sites are trustworthy or provide you with accurate quotes, which means you risk spam and waste your valuable time.

How do you know which comparison site is best for car insurance? To make sure QuoteWizard is a reputable company that provides accurate quotes, we’ve done the hard detective work for you. Our comprehensive QuoteWizard review goes over everything from QuoteWizard’s history and ratings to the pros and cons of using them. We also provide a step-by-step guide of how to get an auto insurance quote, so that you know what information you’ll need.

QuoteWizard’s History

QuoteWizard has been around for a long time — since Scott Peyree founded the company in 2006, when the QuoteWizard Seattle headquarters was established. The company has boomed since its foundation. Its success attracted the attention of LendingTree, who bought the company in 2018. Today, QuoteWizard offers quote comparisons for auto insurance, home insurance, renters insurance, health insurance, and life insurance.

In this section, we are going to go over what exactly QuoteWizard does and how it earns money. We also want to evaluate QuoteWizard’s services through customer ratings and its information sources. Let’s get started.

What is QuoteWizard?

Customers are sometimes confused because they believe QuoteWizard sells insurance. However, QuoteWizard is not a licensed insurance agent. While you don’t need to use a car insurance agent to buy insurance, QuoteWizard is not licensed to sell. This means that while it offers quotes on insurance, you can’t buy a policy from QuoteWizard.

Instead, you will have to buy the policy directly from the insurer you want. Usually, you can go straight from QuoteWizard to the insurer to purchase insurance. This makes the process of buying auto insurance easier, as you can see multiple quotes at one time and pick the best price. You’ll be able to answer questions like, “Is Erie Insurance better than State Farm?”

What are QuoteWizard’s ratings?

Because quote comparison sites often require quite a bit of personal information, you must trust the company you pick. One of the best ways to determine how reliable QuoteWizard is? Check customer reviews and ratings. Unhappy customers are more likely to post a review than happy ones, so poor ratings should be a red flag.

To give you an idea of what QuoteWizard’s customers think of the company, we’ve collected ratings from several review sites. Let’s take a look.

QuoteWizard isn’t reviewed on very many sites. Currently, we can’t get a QuoteWizard BBB rating as its Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating is under review, and it isn’t rated on sites like Shopper Approved. However, it does have good overall ratings on the few sites it is on.

We included Glassdoor’s rating of QuoteWizard, as employee’s reviews of a company provide insight into how a company operates. Out of the 55 employee reviews currently on Glassdoor, 72 percent would recommend QuoteWizard to a friend and 85 percent approve of the CEO. However, some of the complaints about the company are concerning. One employee says that while the team at QuoteWizard is great, the product QuoteWizard provides is “terrible.” Other employees had concerns about the management of the company.

However, while a few other employees complained about low salaries, they didn’t have anything to say about QuoteWizard’s product. This is encouraging, as employees who don’t believe in the product they sell is a huge red flag. Still, QuoteWizard has some significant problems with its leadership and employee happiness.

Where does QuoteWizard’s information come from?

QuoteWizard claims that it is not affiliated with any companies. Affiliated marketing business is when a company partners with third-party companies to promote their products. If a customer buys a product based on a recommendation from the affiliated marketing business, that business will receive a commission.

Watch the video below for an explanation of affiliated marketing.

Most rate comparison sites are a form of affiliated marketing businesses, as partnerships with companies allow the rate comparison sites access to rate data. Since QuoteWizard says it is not affiliated, this means its quotes could be less accurate.

Currently, QuoteWizard compiles quotes from 30 different companies. These companies are among the top insurers in the U.S., such as Allstate, Farmers, State Farm, Geico, USAA, and more. This may seem like a lot, but other rate comparison sites (like Insurify) have rates from over a hundred companies. However, having this many insurers to pull from isn’t necessarily better than a smaller amount.

Quote-comparison sites will usually just give you the top 10 rates after you fill out your quote form. Usually, these top 10 rates end up being the top companies anyways, not one of the lesser-known insurers local to your area.

If you want more variety in your quote, QuoteWizard may not be the best place for you to get quotes from. Try entering your zip code in our auto insurance quote tool to get a better idea of what you could be paying for car insurance in your area.

How to Get a Quote from QuoteWizard

Giving you a step-by-step guide to QuoteWizard’s auto insurance quote process serves two purposes. It helps you move through the quote process faster, as you’ll know what information you’ll need. It also allows us to catch any potential issues with QuoteWizard’s process, such as requesting sensitive information.

So if you want to make sure that QuoteWizard’s form is the one you wish to use, stick with us to see what to expect.

Step 1 – Visit QuoteWizard’s Website

The first thing you will need to do is visit QuoteWizard’s website. On the homepage, you will see a quote box asking for your ZIP code. You must enter the right ZIP, as this is used to calculate your area rates, which can change drastically based on crime, crashes, and weather.

QuoteWizard Auto Insurance Website Home Page

Once you enter your ZIP code and click Get Quotes, you will immediately be taken to QuoteWizard’s auto insurance form.

Step 2 – Enter Vehicle Information

The first set of information QuoteWizard will request is vehicle information. It will ask for your vehicle year, make, and model. Giving this information allows QuoteWizard to add vehicle discounts based on safety ratings and features.

Once you’ve entered in your vehicle information, QuoteWizard will ask if you want to add a second vehicle.

QuoteWizard notes that you can “Save Additional 20%” when you add a second vehicle. Insuring multiple vehicles can earn you a significant discount at most providers, which is why QuoteWizard emphasizes this.

Bear in mind that if you need insurance for a loan on your vehicle, the finance company won’t accept Wizard insurance quotes. You need an actual insurance policy to meet that requirement.

Step 3 – Fill Out Past Insurance Information

Next, QuoteWizard will ask if you have had auto insurance in the last 30 days.

If you click no, you will be taken to the next question. If you click yes, you will be asked who your insurer was and how long you have continuously had insurance.

Step 4 – Fill Out Demographic Information

QuoteWizard will then ask you demographic questions, such as your gender, marital status, credit score, and homeowner status. If you aren’t sure what your credit score is, QuoteWizard will allow you to select this as an option.

Great credit scores will save you money on auto insurance. Auto insurance is cheaper if you’re a homeowner, which is why QuoteWizard will give the option to add your homeowner status to see bundling discounts.

If you select no, you will continue with your auto insurance quote.

Step 5 – Fill Out Driver Information

After you’ve filled out your driver information, it’s time to get started on driver information. QuoteWizard will ask if you or any other drivers on your policy have ever been in at-fault accidents, gotten tickets, or been convicted of DUIs.

If you answer yes to any of these questions, you will see a higher rate at the end of your quote.

Step 6 – Fill Out Personal Information

Near the end of the process, QuoteWizard will ask for your full birthdate. Once you’ve filled out your birth month, day, and year, QuoteWizard will ask for your full name and email address.

The last bit of personal information you’ll have to enter is your address and phone number.

Before you click “Get My Auto Quotes,” make sure you read the consent paragraph at the bottom.

QuoteWizard Auto Insurance Website Privacy Policy

You are giving consent for QuoteWizard and auto insurance companies to call you, send you emails, mail, and text messages. This can result in a bombardment of telemarking calls and emails after you fill out a quote.

Step 7 – Get Final Quotes and Buy Insurance (Optional)

After you’ve clicked on “Get My Auto Quotes,” you will see the following page.

QuoteWizard Auto Insurance Website Online Quote Final Rate

We were disappointed to see that we only had one match for a quote. Even though QuoteWizard is only partnered with 30 insurers, we should have received more than one quote, seeing as QuoteWizard is a rate comparison tool. As you can see from the image, there is a red button labeled “view my rate” next to the Progressive quote.

Unfortunately, when we clicked on the button, QuoteWizard did not allow us to view the rate. Instead, QuoteWizard redirected us to Progressive’s quote form. To see a quote, we would have had to fill out a whole new form on Progressive.

We also noticed that there is no option to customize your coverage, which allows you to pick from a high, medium, or low coverage. So if you were hoping to have at least a handful of quotes and coverages to pick from, you may be sorely disappointed with Quote Wizard.

QuoteWizard Pros & Cons

We’ve gone over QuoteWizard’s history and quote process, and we now have enough information to discuss whether QuoteWizard is a good tool to use. Laying out the pros and cons of QuoteWizard will allow you to quickly decide if you want to proceed with using QuoteWizard to find the cheapest insurance policy rates in your area.

What are QuoteWizard’s pros?

Take a look at the list below for the main pros of QuoteWizard.

  • QuoteWizard pulls quotes from the top insurance companies.
  • The company has good ratings on review sites.
  • Most employees seem happy with the company.
  • The quote process is fast and easy.

The bad news is that most of our pros don’t have anything to do with the product QuoteWizard provides. If you keep reading, you’ll see why.

What are QuoteWizard’s cons?

The cons of QuoteWizard far outweigh its pros.

  • QuoteWizard provides very few quotes at the end of the form, and there are no options to adjust coverage levels.
  • You may have to fill out a second quote form on an insurer’s website.
  • QuoteWizard requests personal data, such as your phone number and email, and explicitly states that it will give your data to insurers.
  • QuoteWizard will call you and send you emails/mail.

The telemarketing approach of QuoteWizard means you will be bothered after filling out a quote form with calls and emails. This may be worth it if the quotes are good and help you find an insurer that saves you money. However, we found that QuoteWizard has few quotes, and you will probably end up having to fill out another form, which defeats the whole purpose.

Because of this, we don’t recommend using QuoteWizard to find auto insurance quotes. The hassle of being called and emailed is not worth a few quote comparisons. Try our free online auto insurance quote tool. There are no forms to fill out. All you have to do is enter your zip code and we can quickly connect you with insurance agents near you.

Frequently Asked Questions: QuoteWizard

In case you are still debating whether to use QuoteWizard, we are going to go over a few frequently asked questions about QuoteWizard. So keep reading to see what others are concerned about.

#1 – Does QuoteWizard have a mobile app?

No, QuoteWizard does not have a mobile app (most quote comparison sites don’t). You can still fill out a quote form on your smartphone, tablet, or computer, but you will have to visit QuoteWizard’s main website.

#2 – Can I purchase policies through QuoteWizard’s website?

While you can’t purchase an auto insurance policy on QuoteWizard’s website, at the end of the quote process you visit the insurer’s websites to purchase insurance. This is why people often mistakenly believe that QuoteWizard sells insurance, when in reality, QuoteWizard will just redirect you to the insurer of your choice.

#3 – Can I pay through QuoteWizard’s website?

Since QuoteWizard redirects you to insurers’ websites, you will never pay on QuoteWizard’s website. Once you pick your insurer, all of your account information will be on that insurer’s website, not on QuoteWizard. Remember, QuoteWizard is simply a tool to help you find an insurer, not a licensed agent.

#4 – How difficult is it to speak to an agent?

QuoteWizard doesn’t have agents, as it is not an insurer. There are customer service representatives, but you may find it hard to contact a service representative at QuoteWizard. There is only one phone number to call QuoteWizard, which means you could be on the line for a while to reach the desired department. QuoteWizard also doesn’t have a listed email, though you can click on a contact us button to open up an email form.

#5 – How often should I get a quote?

It’s generally recommended that you compare auto insurance quote every year. Whenever drivers shop to save money on auto insurance, they should compare (at the bare minimum) three insurance quotes. Having at least three insurance quotes will allow you to better compare rates and coverage among insurers.

#6 – What is the best car insurance comparison site?

If you have spent time reading this review as well as Insurify reviews and Everquote reviews and even smaller options, like hometown quotes reviews, you may still be confused. Is Everquote a legitimate company? Trying to decide between QuoteWizard insurance services and the other options out there can be a challenge.

Deciding where to get your quotes is just part of the equation. Your next set of questions may be about insurance companies. Is Erie Insurance better than State Farm? Is Geico cheaper than Progressive? No one can tell you which choice is best for you, but we can give you as much information as you need all in one place.

Check out the auto insurance company reviews and rates we’ve put together for you. And don’t hesitate to use our FREE online comparison tool to find the best insurance rates in your area.

#7 – What is lead generation?

Lead generation is a term for a method of finding potential customers. Someone asking “Where can I get life insurance leads?” might look to a lead generation company like Nextgen. Nextgen leads reviews are an entirely different branch of insurance, and not of concern to most customers. However, it’s worth noting that a lead generation service will pass your info on to the companies paying them. That may lead to solicitation from those companies.

You’ve stuck with us the whole way, and we hope our comprehensive review of QuoteWizard answered all your questions about the company. If you want to start comparing auto insurance rates today, enter your ZIP code in our free tool below.
