Both companies operate in 24 states — however, USAA’s auto insurance rates are less expensive in 22 out of these 24 states. What’s even more interesting is just how much cheaper than Travelers insurance USAA insurance can be.

When comparing auto insurers, you can research organizations such as A.M. Best and the Better Business Bureau that focus on rating insurers .

Currently, Travelers and USAA both have a rating of A++ from A.M. Best.  Seeing as how there’s a tie here, we can move on to ratings from the Better Business Bureau.
